About this Armenia trip
Armenia is a short flight from the Gulf, simple to get a visa for and still uncrowded, which makes it a good-value alternative to Europe. Yerevan is a lively city of pink tuff stone, cafés and the giant Cascade staircase, with snow-capped Mount Ararat on the horizon. Day trips take you to the Greco-Roman temple at Garni and the rock-carved Geghard monastery, and south to Khor Virap, the classic Ararat viewpoint. You overnight near Tatev and ride the Wings of Tatev, one of the world's longest reversible cable cars, to the clifftop monastery. The trip ends at high-altitude Lake Sevan and the forested resort town of Dilijan.
Yerevan under Mount Ararat, Khor Virap, the Garni temple, the rock-cut Geghard monastery, Tatev's record ropeway and Lake Sevan.

Frequently asked questions
How do Indians get an Armenia visa?
Indian passport holders can apply for an Armenian e-visa online; it is usually issued within a few working days. A visa on arrival is also available at Zvartnots airport, but we recommend the e-visa to avoid queues.
Can we see Mount Ararat?
Ararat is visible from Yerevan and Khor Virap on clear days, especially in the morning. It is in Turkey across a closed border, so you see it but cannot visit it. Summer haze can sometimes hide the peak.
Is Armenia safe to visit?
Yes, Yerevan and the tourist routes are safe and friendly. We avoid areas near the Azerbaijan border and follow current travel advisories.
Is vegetarian food available?
Yes. Armenian cooking has lots of lavash, salads, grilled vegetables, lentil soups and dolma, and Yerevan has several Indian restaurants.
Can we combine Armenia with Georgia?
Yes, they share a land border and the drive from Yerevan to Tbilisi takes about 6 hours. We can turn this into a 9–10 night Armenia and Georgia combination.
