This grand loop starts at the Atlantic-edge Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, climbs to the blue-washed lanes of Chefchaouen in the Rif mountains and loses itself in the thousand-year-old medina of Fes. Then the road crosses the Middle Atlas to Merzouga, where camels carry you into the Erg Chebbi dunes for a night in a desert camp. Frequently asked questions

Do Indians need a visa for Morocco?

Indian passport holders can apply for Morocco's official e-visa online. Travellers holding a valid US, UK, Schengen, Canada, Australia, Japan or New Zealand visa (or residence permits) can get the e-visa more easily or, in some cases, enter without one. We check your eligibility at booking.

How do I fly to Morocco from India?

There are no direct flights. The usual route is via Dubai (Emirates), Doha (Qatar Airways) or Abu Dhabi to Casablanca, about 14–16 hours including the connection. We fly you into Casablanca and out of Marrakech.

Is the day to Merzouga very long?

Yes, it is about 8–9 hours of driving with regular stops, but through spectacular Atlas and desert scenery. It is the price of reaching the real Sahara dunes.

What is the desert camp like?

We use a comfortable tented camp with real beds, blankets and a private bathroom in each tent, plus dinner and Berber music by the fire.

Is vegetarian food easy to find?

Yes. Vegetable tagines, couscous, harira soup, salads and fresh bread are everywhere, and Marrakech and Casablanca have Indian restaurants.
