About this Mussoorie & Dehradun trip

Mussoorie sits on a ridge at about 2,000 metres, just 35 km above Dehradun, which makes it the easiest proper hill station to reach from Delhi. This short break gives you a day in Dehradun for the colonial-era Forest Research Institute and the Robber's Cave gorge, then three nights up the hill. You'll walk the Mall and Camel's Back Road, ride the Gun Hill ropeway, swim at Kempty Falls, drive out to the deodar forests of Dhanaulti and finish with bun-omelettes and ginger lemon honey at Landour's Char Dukan.

Frequently asked questions

How do we reach Dehradun from Delhi?

The Vande Bharat and Shatabdi trains take 4.5–6 hours, flights take about an hour, and the drive via the new expressway sections is 5–6 hours. We can quote a Delhi pickup on request.

Will it snow in Mussoorie?

Light snowfall happens on a few days in some winters, usually in late December to February, and is more reliable in Dhanaulti. It cannot be guaranteed.

Is Mussoorie crowded on weekends?

Yes, long weekends and May–June get heavy traffic on the Kempty and Mall roads. We schedule Kempty Falls early in the morning and suggest weekday travel if you can.

Is this trip suitable for elderly parents?

Yes. Drives are short and most sights are reachable by car. Landour and the Mall involve some uphill walking, which can be done at an easy pace.
