Frequently asked questions

How do Indians get a Japan visa?

Indian passport holders can apply for a single-entry tourist visa through Japan's e-visa system via the designated VFS centre. We prepare your itinerary, hotel bookings and checklist. Allow 3–4 weeks.

Is it easy to find vegetarian food in Japan?

It takes some planning — dashi fish stock is in many dishes. Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka have Indian and vegetarian restaurants, and we share a list. Konbini stores sell vegetarian onigiri and snacks.

What about our big suitcases on the bullet train?

Oversized bags need a reserved space on the Shinkansen. We recommend sending large suitcases ahead by takkyubin and carrying a small bag for the Hakone night.

When can we see cherry blossoms?

Usually late March to early April in Tokyo and Kyoto. Dates vary by a week or two each year and hotels book out early, so reserve 4–6 months ahead.

Is Japan good for solo travellers?

Excellent — it is one of the safest countries in the world, and the rail network makes solo travel easy.
