About this Prayagraj Sangam & Chitrakoot trip
Prayagraj, known as Tirthraj (king of pilgrimages), is where the Ganga, the Yamuna and the unseen Saraswati meet at the Triveni Sangam. It's also the setting for the Kumbh and the annual Magh Mela. This five-day trip starts with a boat to the confluence for a holy snan, then darshan at the reclining Bade Hanuman, the Akshayavat and Patalpuri temple inside the fort, and the Alopi Devi Shakti Peeth. In the evening you watch the Sangam aarti. You then drive to Chitrakoot, where Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshman spent eleven years of exile. There you'll do the Kamadgiri parikrama, attend the Ramghat aarti on the Mandakini, visit Hanuman Dhara, Sati Anusuya ashram and the Gupt Godavari caves, and sit at Sphatik Shila. Back in Prayagraj you can visit Anand Bhawan before your departure.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Sangam dip safe?
The boatmen anchor at a shallow, marked bathing area on a platform. Hold the ropes, avoid going deep and listen to the boatman. Children and seniors should always have someone next to them.
Can we do pind daan or asthi visarjan?
Yes. Prayagraj is one of the main places for these rites. We can arrange a trusted panda — please tell us in advance so the samagri can be prepared.
Is Bade Hanuman temple always open?
It's often partially submerged when the Ganga floods in the monsoon, which is considered auspicious, and darshan may be limited then.
How hard is Hanuman Dhara?
It's a climb of several hundred steps. A ropeway now covers most of it, so seniors can manage comfortably.
Can we add Varanasi or Ayodhya?
Yes. Varanasi is about 3 hrs from Prayagraj and Ayodhya about 4 hrs, and we can extend this into a full Ram Van Gaman or Kashi–Prayag–Ayodhya circuit.
