About this Nainital & Bhimtal trip

Nainital wraps around an eye-shaped lake at 2,000 metres, and the hills around it hold a whole cluster of smaller lakes. You'll spend two nights in Nainital for boating, the Naina Devi temple, the Snow View ropeway and the walk to Tiffin Top, then move 22 km down to Bhimtal for two quieter nights. From there it's easy to visit the nine-cornered Naukuchiatal, the forested Sattal lakes and Kainchi Dham, Neem Karoli Baba's ashram.

Which is the nearest railhead?

Kathgodam, about 35 km from Nainital. The Ranikhet Express and Kathgodam Shatabdi run from Delhi. Pantnagar airport is about 70 km away.

Can private cars enter Nainital in peak season?

During peak weekends the police sometimes restrict vehicle entry and use shuttle parking. Our drivers know the current rules and we plan arrival times accordingly.

Why stay in Bhimtal instead of all nights in Nainital?

Bhimtal is quieter, has more space and easy access to Naukuchiatal and Sattal. Nainital's Mall area gets very busy from May to June.

Will we see snow?

Nainital gets occasional light snow in January and February. It is not reliable, so plan for cold, clear days instead.
