About this Ladakh trip
Ladakh is high, dry and enormous. Monasteries cling to ridgelines, roads climb past 5,000 metres and the light does things you will not see anywhere else. This seven-day itinerary gives your body two easy days in Leh before crossing Khardung La into the Nubra Valley, follows the Shyok river to the turquoise expanse of Pangong Tso, and returns over Chang La past Thiksey Monastery. Inner Line Permits, oxygen in the vehicle and experienced local drivers are part of the plan.
Monasteries, high passes, Bactrian camels in Nubra and a night by Pangong Lake — with proper acclimatisation.

Frequently asked questions
Will I get altitude sickness?
Mild headache or breathlessness is common on day one. That is why the first two days are slow. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, and tell your driver right away if symptoms get worse — there is oxygen in the car.
Do Indians need a permit for Nubra and Pangong?
Yes. An Inner Line Permit and environment fee are mandatory for Nubra, Pangong and other protected areas. We apply for them once you send your ID.
Is Ladakh suitable for children or seniors?
Children above 7 and fit seniors usually manage well with acclimatisation. Anyone with heart, lung or blood-pressure conditions should get medical clearance first.
Can we do this as a bike trip?
Yes. We can swap the car for Royal Enfield rentals with a backup vehicle and mechanic. Ask for the bike-trip quote.
Will my phone work?
Only postpaid SIMs work in Ladakh. There is coverage in Leh and patchy coverage in Nubra and Pangong.
