Frequently asked questions
Is the toy train ticket guaranteed?
Joy-ride seats are limited and sold by IRCTC. We book them as soon as you confirm, and if they sell out we'll suggest a steam or diesel alternative slot.
Will we see Kanchenjunga?
Clear-sky mornings are most common from October to December and in March and April. In the monsoon the peaks are usually hidden.
Can we add Gangtok?
Yes. Gangtok is a 4-hour drive away. We can add two nights in Sikkim before coming down to Kolkata.
Is it good for seniors?
Yes. Darjeeling's Mall is fairly flat, and we keep walking light. Tiger Hill is optional for anyone who'd rather sleep in.
