About this Himachal Pradesh trip

Himachal is the Himalaya made easy — good roads, cosy hotels and snow within reach for most of the year. This seven-day classic starts in Shimla, the old summer capital, with the Ridge, Christ Church and the apple orchards of Kufri. Then it follows the Beas through Kullu (raft it if you dare) to Manali for four nights: Hadimba Temple's cedar forest, Old Manali's cafés, paragliding at Solang and a drive through the 9-km Atal Tunnel to the snowfields of Sissu in Lahaul.

Frequently asked questions

Will we see snow?

From December to March Manali and Solang often have snow. Through the rest of the year, Sissu beyond the Atal Tunnel and Rohtang Pass usually do.

Is Rohtang Pass included?

Rohtang needs an online permit with a daily vehicle cap, and it is closed on Tuesdays and in winter. We apply on request; the permit and local cab cost extra.

How long is the Shimla–Manali drive?

About 250 km, 7–8 hours with stops. We leave early so you reach Manali by evening.

Is paragliding safe?

We use registered operators at Solang with certified pilots. Tandem flights take 5–15 minutes depending on the package and are weather-dependent.

Is it good for a honeymoon?

Very popular. Upgrade to a riverside cottage in Manali with a candle-light dinner and flower decoration.
