About this Dharamshala & McLeodganj trip
McLeodganj is the home of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile, a hillside town of prayer flags, monasteries and momo cafés directly below the snowy Dhauladhar range. This trip mixes culture and a little adventure. You'll see the Tsuglagkhang temple, Norbulingka Institute and the cricket stadium with the mountains behind it, spend a night camping on Triund ridge at 2,850 m, and finish with sunset at Naddi.

Frequently asked questions
How hard is the Triund trek?
It's a moderate 9 km climb of about 800 m, with a steep rocky final section. Anyone reasonably fit can do it at a slow pace. We can swap it for a Naddi village stay if needed.
Can we see the Dalai Lama?
His Holiness gives public teachings on some dates, which are announced on his official website. Registration with a passport photo is needed. Attendance cannot be guaranteed.
Is camping on Triund allowed?
Camping is regulated by the forest department and is sometimes suspended in bad weather or during high fire risk. If so, we arrange an extra night in McLeodganj and a day hike instead.
How do we get there from Delhi?
Overnight Volvo buses run to McLeodganj (about 12 hours). Flights to Gaggal take about 1.5 hours. Pathankot is the nearest major railhead, about 3 hours away by road.
Is it suitable for solo travellers?
Very. McLeodganj is popular with solo travellers and our Triund guide is with you throughout the trek and camp.
