Frequently asked questions

Will my mobile phone work in Kashmir?

Only postpaid connections from other states work in Jammu & Kashmir. Prepaid SIMs issued outside J&K do not roam here, so carry a postpaid number or use the houseboat and hotel Wi-Fi.

When can we see snow?

Gulmarg usually has snow from mid-December to March, and patches at Apharwat (Gondola Phase 2) last into May. Sonmarg's glacier viewpoint has snow most of the year.

Is the Gulmarg Gondola included?

Gondola tickets are sold only online by the J&K Cable Car Corporation and sell out in season. We help you book the moment your dates are confirmed; the fare is paid directly.

Why do we need local cabs in Pahalgam and Gulmarg?

Local unions run the vehicles to Betaab, Aru and Chandanwari, and outside cars are not allowed beyond the town. Your driver will arrange them; fares are fixed by the union.

Is Kashmir suitable for elderly parents and young kids?

Yes. The pace is relaxed, drives are under three hours, and houseboats have ground-level access. Pony rides are optional and Gondola Phase 1 is gentle.
