Overview

About this Kedarnath & Badrinath Do Dham Yatra trip

If you don't have twelve days for the full Char Dham, the Do Dham Yatra covers its two most important shrines: Kedarnath, the highest of the twelve Jyotirlingas at 3,583 m, and Badrinath, Lord Vishnu's abode on the Alaknanda at 3,133 m. You start with the Ganga aarti at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar, then drive along the river through Devprayag and Rudraprayag to Guptkashi. From Gaurikund you trek about 16 km to Kedarnath (ponies, palkis and helicopters can be arranged) and stay overnight at the dham for the evening aarti and an early darshan. You then cross to Badrinath via Chopta and Joshimath, take a dip at Tapt Kund, attend the aarti and visit Mana, India's last village before Tibet. The trip ends with the Triveni Ghat aarti in Rishikesh.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is registration mandatory?

Yes. Every pilgrim must register with the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (online or at the registration counters) and carry the QR-coded yatra pass. We handle this once you share Aadhaar details.

How hard is the Kedarnath trek?

The path from Gaurikund is about 16 km one way, paved and steady but steep in parts, climbing to 3,583 m. Healthy adults usually take 6–8 hours up. Ponies, palkis and pithus are available for those who can't walk it.

Can we fly to Kedarnath by helicopter?

Yes. Shuttles operate from Phata, Sersi and Guptkashi. Tickets are sold only on the IRCTC HeliYatra portal, sell out within minutes and depend on the weather. We help you book but can't guarantee seats.

Is this trip safe for seniors?

Many seniors complete it by pony or helicopter. Anyone with heart, lung or blood pressure conditions should get a medical check-up first. Altitude sickness is real, so climb slowly and stay hydrated.

What if the road is blocked?

Landslides can close the road for hours, especially in the monsoon. Our schedule includes buffer time, but extra hotel nights from delays are charged at actuals.

Can we add Yamunotri and Gangotri?

Yes — that becomes our 12-day Char Dham Yatra.
