Azerbaijan is a short flight from India and packs a lot into a week. Baku pairs the UNESCO-listed walled Icherisheher, with its Maiden Tower and Palace of the Shirvanshahs, with Zaha Hadid's Heydar Aliyev Center and the Flame Towers glowing over the Caspian at night. Is vegetarian food easy to find?

Yes. Baku has several Indian restaurants, and local cuisine includes plenty of vegetable dishes, dolma, salads, breads and rice pilaf. We tell hotels in advance about veg or Jain needs.

Will there be snow?

Shahdag usually has snow from December to March. From May to October the mountains are green and the weather is ideal for cable cars and walks.

Is Azerbaijan safe for families?

Yes. Baku is clean and well policed, and the itinerary avoids border regions. It works well for families and senior travellers.
