About this Guruvayur & Kerala Temples trip
Kerala's temples feel different from anywhere else in India — sloping copper roofs, rows of brass lamps lit at dusk, chenda drums and elephants at the evening seeveli. This five-day trip starts at Chottanikkara Bhagavathy near Kochi, then spends two nights at Guruvayur so you can attend the 3 a.m. Nirmalyam darshan of Guruvayurappan and visit the temple elephants at Punnathur Kotta. Heading south you stop at Thriprayar Sree Rama and Kodungallur Bhagavathy, the great Shiva temples of Vaikom and Ettumanoor, and finish in Thiruvananthapuram with Attukal Bhagavathy — famous for the Pongala, the world's largest gathering of women — and Sree Padmanabhaswamy, where Vishnu reclines on Anantha across three doors.
Nirmalyam at Guruvayur, Punnathur Kotta elephants, Vaikom and Ettumanoor, ending at Padmanabhaswamy.

Frequently asked questions
Can non-Hindus enter these temples?
Guruvayur and Sree Padmanabhaswamy admit only Hindus inside the temple. Non-Hindu members of a group can wait outside or at the hotel; we'll suggest alternatives nearby.
What is the dress code at Guruvayur?
Men wear a mundu without a shirt (a shoulder cloth is fine). Women wear a saree, salwar-kameez or long skirt and blouse. Jeans, shorts and lungis are not allowed.
Do we need to book Guruvayur darshan?
General darshan needs no booking. Paid special darshan (nei vilakku) is available at counters. Queues are longest on weekends, Ekadasi and in the wedding season.
Are phones allowed at Padmanabhaswamy?
No. Phones, cameras and electronic items must be left at the cloakroom outside. Indian visitors need a photo ID.
Can we add Sabarimala or Alappuzha?
Yes. Alappuzha houseboat can be added between Vaikom and Thiruvananthapuram as an overnight stay, and Sabarimala can be linked in season through our separate package.
