About this Gokarna Beaches trip

Gokarna is a small temple town on the Karnataka coast with a string of crescent beaches hidden behind headlands. You stay in a cliff-top or beach-side resort and spend a day on the famous beach trek — Kudle, Om, Half Moon and Paradise beaches linked by rocky coastal trails, with a boat ride back. You'll also see the Mahabaleshwar temple, one of the seven Mukti-sthalas, and drive south to Murudeshwar, where a 37 m Shiva statue overlooks the sea next to a towering gopuram. Plenty of free time for beach shacks, kayaking at Om Beach and sunsets that turn the whole bay orange.

How tough is the beach trek?

It's about 8–10 km of trail with rocky climbs between beaches — moderate for anyone who walks regularly. Carry water and avoid the midday sun.

Is the sea safe for swimming?

Om and Kudle beaches have calm patches, but currents can be strong especially during monsoon. Swim only where lifeguards are present; the sea is off-limits June–September.

Is there a dress code at Mahabaleshwar temple?

Yes — men usually need to remove shirts and wear a dhoti for inner darshan; women should wear a saree or salwar kameez. We'll brief you the day before.

Hubballi or Goa — which is better?

Hyderabad–Hubballi flights land closest by road. Goa has more flight options and is about the same drive time. We'll suggest whichever fares best for your dates.
