About this Dwarka & Somnath Yatra trip
This six-day yatra covers Saurashtra's two great coastal shrines. In Dwarka you have darshan at the Dwarkadhish temple, watch the dhwaja being changed on its spire and attend the evening aarti at Gomti Ghat. You also visit Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, Rukmini Devi temple and Bet Dwarka, which you now reach by road over the Sudarshan Setu. On the drive south you stop at Porbandar for Kirti Mandir (Gandhi's birthplace) and Sudama Mandir, then spend two nights at Somnath, the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas. There you see the light and sound show, the morning aarti, Triveni Sangam and Bhalka Tirth, where Krishna left his mortal body. The last day takes in Junagadh and the Girnar ropeway before you are dropped in Rajkot.
Krishna's Dwarka, Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, Bet Dwarka over Sudarshan Setu and Somnath on the Arabian Sea.

Frequently asked questions
Are phones allowed inside Dwarkadhish and Somnath?
No. Both temples have free cloakrooms for phones, cameras and bags, and security checks at the entrance. Photography is allowed outside the temple premises.
Do we still need a boat to Bet Dwarka?
No. Since the Sudarshan Setu opened in 2024 you can drive straight to Bet Dwarka from Okha. Boat rides are optional.
What is the dhwaja ceremony?
The 52-yard flag on the Dwarkadhish spire is changed several times a day by families who sponsor it, often years in advance. You can watch the ceremony from the courtyard.
Can we add Gir National Park?
Yes. Sasan Gir is about an hour from Somnath. A jungle safari can be added (permits open around 60 days ahead and the park is closed mid-June to mid-October).
Is this suitable for seniors?
Yes. Distances are moderate, the hotels are close to the temples and there's no trekking except the optional Girnar ropeway. Wheelchairs are available at Somnath.
