About this Uzbekistan trip
Just three hours' flight from Delhi, Uzbekistan feels like stepping into a miniature painting. The Registan's three madrasas in Samarkand, the blue-tiled avenue of Shah-i-Zinda and the minarets of Bukhara are the architectural roots of the Mughal monuments Indians grow up with — Babur himself came from the Fergana Valley. This trip uses the high-speed Afrosiyob train between cities, spends two unhurried nights each in Samarkand and Bukhara, and finishes inside the mud-brick walls of Khiva's Itchan Kala before flying back to Tashkent.
Turquoise domes, Silk Road bazaars and the Timurid heritage behind the Mughals.

Frequently asked questions
Do Indians need a visa for Uzbekistan?
Yes. Indian passport holders apply for the official Uzbekistan e-visa online; it is usually issued within three working days for a fee of about USD 20 and allows a 30-day stay. We help with the application.
Are there direct flights from India?
Yes. Uzbekistan Airways and IndiGo fly nonstop from Delhi to Tashkent in about three hours. From other Indian cities you connect via Delhi.
Is vegetarian food available?
Uzbek food is meat-heavy, but bread, salads, fresh fruit, dairy and vegetable dishes are easy to find, and Tashkent and Samarkand have Indian restaurants. We pre-inform hotels about vegetarian guests.
Is Uzbekistan safe for families and seniors?
Yes, it is one of the safest countries in the region. Old towns are flat and walkable, and the high-speed trains make long distances comfortable.
Do I need to register my stay?
Foreign visitors must be registered at each place they stay. Hotels do this automatically and give you registration slips — keep them until you leave the country.
