About this Cambodia trip
Angkor is the largest religious monument on earth, and for anyone who knows Indian temple architecture it feels both familiar and new. Angkor Wat was built as a Vishnu temple, and its galleries carry carvings of the Churning of the Ocean of Milk, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Three nights in Siem Reap give you time for sunrise at Angkor Wat, the 200-plus smiling faces of the Bayon, Ta Prohm wrapped in silk-cotton tree roots, and the pink sandstone carvings of Banteay Srei. You then head to Phnom Penh for the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, the National Museum, a sunset cruise where the Mekong meets the Tonle Sap, and a sobering visit to Tuol Sleng.
Sunrise at Angkor Wat, Bayon's stone faces, jungle-wrapped Ta Prohm and Phnom Penh's Royal Palace.

Frequently asked questions
Do Indians need a visa for Cambodia?
Yes. Indian passport holders can apply for a Cambodia e-visa online, usually approved within 3 working days. We handle the application with you.
How strict is the dress code at the temples?
Shoulders and knees must be covered at Angkor Wat's upper sanctuary (Bakan) and at the Royal Palace. Light cotton trousers or long skirts and T-shirts with sleeves are ideal.
Is there a lot of walking and climbing?
Expect 10,000 or more steps a day and some steep stone stairs. Seniors can skip the steepest climbs, and our guide plans shaded routes and rest stops.
Will I get Indian or vegetarian food?
Siem Reap and Phnom Penh both have Indian restaurants, and Khmer kitchens readily make vegetable curries and fried rice without meat or fish sauce if you ask.
Is the Tuol Sleng visit suitable for children?
It covers the Khmer Rouge genocide and can be distressing. Families with young children can swap it for extra time at the Royal Palace or the riverside.
