About this Sri Lanka Ramayana Trail trip
Lanka is where the Ramayana reaches its climax, and many of its episodes are remembered at living temples across the island. Begin at Munneswaram near Chilaw, where Lord Rama is believed to have worshipped Shiva after the war, and at Manavari, where he installed a sand lingam. Climb into the cool hills past the Ramboda Hanuman temple to Sita Eliya, where the Seetha Amman temple stands beside the stream of Ashok Vatika in which Mata Sita is said to have bathed. See Divurumpola, the traditional site of the Agni Pariksha, and the Ravana Falls and caves near Ella, before ending at Kelaniya, linked to Vibhishana's coronation. Kandy's Temple of the Tooth, misty tea estates and a Nine Arch Bridge stop add Sri Lanka's beauty to a deeply devotional trip.

Frequently asked questions
Do Indians need a visa for Sri Lanka?
Indian passport holders apply online for Sri Lanka's Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travel. Sri Lanka has waived the ETA fee for Indians under recent schemes, but the policy is reviewed from time to time; we confirm the current rule and help with the application when you book.
Are these Ramayana sites historically proven?
They are sites of living faith and local tradition rather than archaeologically proven locations. Several, like Munneswaram and Seetha Amman temple, have been worshipped for centuries, and our guide shares both the legends and the history.
Is the trip tiring for seniors?
Driving distances are moderate except Ella to Colombo (about 6 hours). Ravana Falls is next to the road; the Ravana cave involves a steep climb of about 600 steps, which is optional.
What is the dress code at the Temple of the Tooth?
Wear light-coloured clothes covering shoulders and knees, and remove shoes and hats before entering. Photography of the inner shrine is restricted.
Can we add Trincomalee or Jaffna?
Yes. Koneswaram temple in Trincomalee and Nallur Kandaswamy temple in Jaffna can be added as a 2–3 night extension.
