Overview

About this Sri Lanka trip

Sri Lanka packs astonishing variety into a small island — ancient rock fortresses, misty tea estates, elephant-dotted forests, colonial forts and palm-fringed beaches, all an hour's flight from Chennai or Bengaluru. This seven-day loop climbs Sigiriya, visits the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy, rides the famous hill-country train to Ella past waterfalls and tea slopes, and finishes on the south coast at Bentota and Galle Fort. A private car and driver-guide handle every transfer.

Tea country trains, ancient rock fortresses and golden southern beaches in one island.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do Indians need a visa for Sri Lanka?

Indian passport holders need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), applied online before travel. Sri Lanka has offered free ETAs to Indians at times, so we confirm the current fee and handle the application for you.

Is the Sigiriya climb difficult?

It is about 1,200 steps with some narrow metal stairways. Start early to avoid the heat. Seniors can enjoy the water gardens and museum at the base instead.

What should we wear at the Temple of the Tooth?

Cover shoulders and knees; white is preferred. Shoes and hats come off at the entrance. Do not pose with your back to Buddha statues for photos.

Is the food spicy?

Sri Lankan rice and curry can be spicy, but it is very familiar to South Indian palates. Hotels can adjust spice levels, and vegetarian food is easy to find.

Can train tickets sell out?

Reserved seats on the Ella train sell out weeks ahead in peak season. If unavailable, we book observation-class or drive you to Ella with a short train segment.
