About this China: Beijing, Xi'an & Shanghai trip
China's classic triangle covers more than two thousand years of history in a week. Beijing has the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Great Wall at Mutianyu, a restored section with a cable car up and a toboggan down. A high-speed train runs through the countryside to Xi'an, the ancient capital, where the Terracotta Army stands in battle formation and you can cycle on top of the Ming city wall. The trip ends in Shanghai, where 1920s banks along the Bund face the skyscrapers of Pudong across the river. Our local guides speak English, and we set up your payment apps and internet before you go, since both work differently in China.
Walk the Great Wall at Mutianyu, explore the Forbidden City, face the Terracotta Army in Xi'an and see Shanghai's skyline from the Bund.

Frequently asked questions
How do Indians get a China visa?
You apply for a tourist (L) visa through the Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata, with fingerprints taken in person. Processing usually takes about a week. Apply 4–6 weeks before travel.
Will my phone and apps work?
Google services, WhatsApp, Instagram and YouTube are blocked on Chinese networks. An Indian roaming plan or an international eSIM usually still works. We help you set these up before departure.
How do we pay in China?
Almost everything is paid by Alipay or WeChat Pay, both of which accept foreign Visa and Mastercard. Carry some yuan in cash as a backup for small shops.
Is vegetarian food available?
Yes, with some planning. Our guides order vegetable dishes, tofu and noodles without meat, and Beijing and Shanghai have Indian restaurants. Strict Jain diets are harder, so please tell us in advance.
How tiring is the Great Wall?
At Mutianyu the cable car takes you up to the wall. From there you can walk as little or as much as you like, though the steps between watchtowers are steep in places.
