When to go, what to book ahead, and the desert trips worth paying for.
When to go
November to March is the sweet spot: daytime temperatures in the mid-20s, cool desert evenings and the Dubai Shopping Festival running from mid-December to January. Summer is quieter and hotels drop their rates, but outdoor sightseeing is only comfortable early morning and after dark.
What to book ahead
Some Dubai experiences sell out or jump in price closer to the date. Burj Khalifa sunset slots, Museum of the Future entries and Friday brunches are the big three we pre-book for travellers.
- Burj Khalifa, levels 124–125 — sunset slot, book 2–3 weeks ahead
- Museum of the Future — timed entry, often full on weekends
- Dhow dinner cruise on Dubai Marina or the Creek
- Day trip to Abu Dhabi for the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Louvre
Book the Burj Khalifa at sunset and the desert safari for the evening — midday in Dubai is for malls and pools.
Desert trips worth paying for
Evening desert safaris are the classic, with dune bashing, a camel ride and a barbecue dinner at a camp. If you want something calmer, a morning hot-air balloon flight over the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve is unforgettable — and far less crowded.
Getting around
The Dubai Metro red line connects the airport, Downtown and Dubai Marina, and a Nol card works on metro, tram and buses. For the Palm, Global Village and the desert, we include private transfers in every FONIX WORLD Dubai package.
