The dishes our travellers talk about long after they have flown home.
The list
These are the dishes our travellers bring up again and again when they call the desk after a trip. Most have vegetarian versions, and our local partners know where to find them.
- Pad thai from a Bangkok street cart — ask for it 'jay' for vegetarian
- Ramen in Tokyo — tiny counters, ticket machines, big flavour
- Neapolitan pizza in Naples — the margherita is the benchmark
- Pho in Hanoi — a breakfast soup worth waking up early for
- Baklava and Turkish tea in Istanbul's Karaköy
- Nasi goreng from a Bali warung, with sambal on the side
- Swiss fondue in a mountain hut after a day in the snow
Eating well as a vegetarian traveller
Vegetarian and Jain travellers are a large share of our members, so every FONIX WORLD itinerary notes vegetarian-friendly restaurants near your hotel. In Japan and Thailand, a small printed card in the local language explaining your diet goes a long way.
Ask any of our travellers what they remember first, and it is almost always a meal.
