Overview

About this Lourdes & Fatima trip

A deeply prayerful journey to the two greatest Marian shrines of Europe. In Lourdes, pray at the Grotto of Massabielle where Our Lady appeared to St. Bernadette in 1858, take the water at the baths, and walk in the nightly torchlight Marian procession with pilgrims from every nation. Cross the Pyrenees to the sanctuary of St. Ignatius at Loyola and on to Santiago de Compostela, the end of the Camino, to embrace the statue of St. James and attend the Pilgrims' Mass. Then go south to Fatima for two nights at the Chapel of Apparitions, the basilicas of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Holy Trinity, the candlelight Rosary procession and the homes of the shepherd children at Aljustrel. End in Lisbon at the birthplace of St. Anthony. A spiritual director travels with the group and Holy Mass is arranged daily.

The Grotto of Lourdes, the Chapel of Apparitions at Fatima and the tomb of St. James at Santiago.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Which visa do Indians need?

A single Schengen short-stay visa covers France, Spain and Portugal. You usually apply at the consulate of the country where you spend the most nights; on this itinerary we confirm the correct consulate when the final hotel plan is ready and prepare the complete file.

Can we skip Santiago for a shorter trip?

Yes. A 7N/8D version flies Toulouse–Lisbon directly after Lourdes and spends three nights at Fatima. Santiago and Loyola are best for those who want the full Camino experience.

Can we bathe in the Lourdes baths?

Yes, the piscines are open to all pilgrims with separate sections for men and women. Queues can be 1–2 hours in summer; our tour manager plans the visit early in the morning.

Will there be daily Mass?

Yes. Our spiritual director celebrates Mass daily, including at the sanctuaries in Lourdes and Fatima where slots are booked in advance, and you can attend the international Masses as well.

Is the trip suitable for seniors?

Yes. Hotels are close to the shrines and we travel by private coach. Lourdes has a dedicated pilgrim service for the sick and those with reduced mobility; let us know so we can arrange it.

When are the big feast days?

Lourdes celebrates 11 February and 15 August; Fatima's great pilgrimages are on 12–13 May and 12–13 October. These dates are very moving but extremely crowded; book 6 months ahead.
