Manali
Snow at Solang, cafés in Old Manali and riverside nights in the Parvati Valley
About Manali
Manali sits at about 2,050 metres at the head of the Kullu Valley, where the Beas river rushes past deodar forests and apple orchards with snow peaks rising on every side. For travellers from Hyderabad it is the classic Himalayan holiday: easy to reach via Delhi or Chandigarh, comfortable to stay in and packed with things to do, from snow play and paragliding to temple walks and long café afternoons.
Our Manali trips cover the town and then go higher and wider. You will visit the Hadimba Devi Temple in its cedar forest, walk the lanes of Old Manali and Vashisht with its hot springs, and spend a full day at Solang Valley for paragliding, ATV rides, ropeway views or, in winter, snow play and skiing. A drive through the 9-km Atal Tunnel takes you to Sissu in Lahaul, where snowfields and a frozen waterfall wait for much of the year. On the Manali–Kasol package, the second half moves to the Parvati Valley: riverside nights in Kasol, the hot springs and gurudwara langar at Manikaran Sahib, and an easy walk to Chalal village along the river.
Manali works for honeymooners, friend groups, families with children and anyone chasing their first snowfall. Summer brings pleasant days and the Rohtang and Lahaul roads, while December to February turns the valley white. The overnight Volvo from Delhi is part of the experience for many groups, though flying into Bhuntar or Chandigarh saves time. Whatever the season, the mix of mountain adventure and slow evenings by the river is what keeps travellers coming back.

When to go
Getting there from Hyderabad
By flight
Fly Hyderabad to Delhi (about 2 hours 15 minutes) and connect to Kullu–Bhuntar on a small aircraft, or fly to Chandigarh and drive about 7–8 hours. Bhuntar flights are limited and weather-sensitive, so most groups use Delhi or Chandigarh.
By road
Overnight Volvo coaches from Delhi to Manali take about 12–14 hours and are included on our Manali–Kasol package. A private cab from Chandigarh takes 7–8 hours via Mandi and the Kullu Valley.
By train
Trains from Hyderabad or Secunderabad to New Delhi take 22–28 hours; from there continue by Volvo. Chandigarh and Kalka are the nearest major railheads to Manali.

What to eat
Siddu
A steamed wheat bun stuffed with walnuts, poppy seeds or lentils, served with ghee and chutney; the signature Himachali snack.
Himachali dham
A traditional festive meal of rajma madra, chana dal and sweet rice; look for it at local restaurants in Manali and Kullu.
Trout from the Beas
Fresh river trout, grilled or pan-fried, is a local favourite at Manali and Kasol restaurants.
Israeli and café food in Kasol
Shakshuka, falafel, hummus platters and wood-fired pizzas are staples of the Parvati Valley's backpacker cafés.
Langar at Manikaran
The free community meal at Gurudwara Manikaran Sahib is a humbling experience; some of the food is cooked in the hot springs.
Insider tips
- Carry layers even in summer: the temperature drops sharply after sunset and at Sissu or Solang.
- Hire snow boots and suits in Manali rather than buying them, and agree on the rate before you take them.
- Avoid travelling into the valley during heavy monsoon rain warnings; landslides on the Kiratpur–Manali highway can cause long delays.
- Keep cash handy for Solang activities and small cafés in Kasol and Chalal, where networks and ATMs can be patchy.
- In winter, roads beyond Manali may require chains or a 4x4; trust your local driver's judgement about when it is safe to go higher.
